Credo People

Tim Nixon Manager

When I graduated from Cambridge with a degree in History I was unsure of what I wanted to do. I had spent a summer at an investment bank, and was convinced that I didn't want to work as 'just another number' for a large company so for a year I worked as the sabbatical business manager on a student newspaper. As well as the challenge of running a small business, I got a huge amount out of the team I worked with and their commitment to what we did. This all meant that when I decided I was interested in strategy consulting, I was actively looking for a small company with a similar atmosphere.

I knew I wanted to work at Credo from the first moment I walked in. The enthusiasm of the people I met, coupled with a very warm welcome was infectious, and over the years I haven't looked back.

I was lucky that my arrival at Credo coincided with the general upturn in the consulting market so I have been kept pretty busy and seen some great variety in my work.

As well as a large number of classic strategic review cases across numerous industries (software, construction, motivation, support services amongst others), I have worked on everything from supply chain transformations to marketing strategies. One of the advantages of working in strategy consultancy is that you never stop learning about new industries, meeting new people and acquiring an ever wider skill set.

All our work is in small teams so it's important that you take responsibility for the work you are doing. Whether I am managing a team of associates or engaged directly in research and analysis I am trusted to get on with it and to have a point-of-view.

With hindsight I am very glad I chose a small firm as I can make a real contribution in my project-work as well as in a wider company context through activities like recruitment. I am also glad I chose Credo. As well as learning on the job from excellent managers and partners I can enjoy my time at work in a great atmosphere.
